The Aerobie AeroPress is a whole new coffee brewing experience.
In what way is it different from other brewing systems? Here’re some of the distinctive features of the AeroPress:
The AeroPress coffee maker is based on a plunger type structure. In spite of the name, it has nothing to do with a press pot. It works different than a French pot, too. The time the grounds are in contact with the water is very short, less than half a minute. This fact has a huge impact on the overall taste of the beverage. It gets full flavor with minimal acidity and bitterness. Also, the concentration is very high.
In what way does the brewing process actually work? During the first 10-15 seconds, the coffee and water are being mixed (in the same way as it is done in a press pot). During the following 20 seconds, the water goes through the coffee under high pressure.
What is required to make drink with the AeroPress? In addition to the device itself and a heat source, you will need water and coffee. If you prefer sweet drink, add some sugar to the list as well. An instant read thermometer will be of great help, too, as far as it is essential to make sure the water is neither too hot nor cool (between 165 and 175 degrees F.). Also, you will need a cup to fill it with the beverage.
What about the grind? Our recommendation is “fine drip” as it provides the richest flavor. Those who prefer a blade grinder will probably come to the conclusion that a 20-30-second cycle is optimal.
The AeroPress can brew from one to four servings at a time. You may add hot water, heated milk or cream to taste.
