There can be quite a few reasons why your Caffitaly coffee maker can suddenly stop working. In most cases, it’s just a mineral build. Not only does it change the taste and quality of the beverage, but it also does damage to the appliance. Other similar problems include the power cord issues and a clogged one-way valve.

Below, you will find expert troubleshooting advice explaining what to do if your coffee maker is experiencing these or other malfunctions.

Caffitaly System S14 coffee maker troubleshooting

PROBLEMCAUSESOLUTION
No beverage is brewed. The Indicator light blinks RED.- The water tank is empty. and/or- Fill the tank with fresh water. Press Single Espresso button. When the buttons remain steadily lit, the appliance is ready for use.
- Incorrect use of the Tea button.- The Tea Button is Only to be used for Tea Capsules and hot water.
The coffee is not hot enough.- Cold milk, cups or mugs.- Preheat milk and preheat cups or mugs by running under hot water.
The lever cannot be lowered.- The used capsule drawer is full or a Capsule stuck inside the machine.- Empty out the used capsule drawer.
- Gently push down on jammed capsule with a new capsule.
The Indicator light is on and steadily lit in RED and water is cold.- Heating problems.- RESET the machine as per instructions on Page 16.

When a coffee dispensing button is pressed, the machine seems to start running, but stops without dispensing coffee or after dispensing only a small amount- Incorrect quantity programming.- Reprogram the quantity corresponding to that button. See chapter. "Programming the quantity of coffee in a cup" on Page 10.
- If that doesn’t work follow the RESET instructions as illustrated on Page 16.
Indicator Light is Orange- Machine requires Descaling.- Refer to sections - Descaling and perform the steps to descale machine found on Page 13.
Coffee grinds appearing in cup.- Incorrect coffee capsule being used.- Capsules suitable for the Caffitaly systems are only suitable for this machine (there will be a Caffitaly logo on the packaging).

Caffitaly System S03 coffee maker troubleshooting

PROBLEMCAUSESOLUTION
- No coffee is brewed.-The water tank is empty, the multifunction indicator light is lit in RED.- Fill the tank with fresh water. Press one of the coffee buttons to fill the circuit.
-The coffee is not hot enough.-Cold cups/mugs.-Preheat cup/mug. - Descale.
-Scalebuild-up in machine.
-The lever cannot be lowered.-The used capsule drawer is full.- Empty out the used capsule drawer. -Remove the used capsule.
-Capsule stuck inside the machine.

Caffitaly System S01HS coffee maker troubleshooting

PROBLEMCAUSESOLUTION
- No coffee is dispensed / No water is dispensed- The water tank is empty, the multifunction indicator light is lit in RED.- Fill the tank with fresh water.
-The multifunction indicator light is lit in ORANGE; the steam function is activated.- Press the steam button and wait until the indicator light is lit in green.
- Scale build-up in machine.- Descale, if necessary (see Ch.12).
-The lever cannot be lowered.- The used capsule drawer is full. -Capsule stuck inside the machine.- Empty out the used capsule drawer. -Remove the capsule.
- Alarm.-The multifunction indicator light is lit in RED.- Fill the tank with water.
-The multifunction indicator light is blinking in RED.- Electronics fault. Turn off the machine, then turn it back on.
-The multifunction indicator light is blinking in ORANGE and GREEN.- If the problem persists, contact an Author- ised Service Centre.
- None of the indicator lights are on.- The appliance is in its descaling phase.
- Make sure the appliance is connected to the electricity mains.
- If the problem persists, contact an Author- ised Service Centre.
-The coffee is not hot enough.-Cold cups/mugs.- Preheat cup / mug.
-Scale build-up in machine.-Descale (see Ch.12).
- Milk foam not satisfac tory.- Milk not suitable.- Use skimmed or semi-skimmed milk at refrigerator temperature.

Caffitaly System S 21 coffee maker troubleshooting

PROBLEMCAUSESOLUTION
First Use. There is a burning smell when the machine first starts and a beverage button is pressed.- Machine heating up for the first time.- There may be a slight burning smell coming from the machine when first used. This is caused by the water heating as it travels through the pipes and will dissipate.
- PLEASE NOTE: Steam may also be seen coming from the Capsule Compartment. This will also dissipate.
Water residue within the machine on opening.- The system is quality checked prior to dispatch. There may be residual water left from testing.- The water residue will be removed when you conduct the 'First Time Use’ on Page 7.

The Lever cannot be lowered.-The Used Capsule Drawer is full.- Empty out the Used Capsule Drawer.
- Capsule stuck inside the Capsule Compartment.- Gently push down on the jammed capsule with a new capsule.
The Indicator Light is on and steadily lit in RED. Water comes out cold.- Heating problems.- RESET the machine as per instructions on Page 17.

Coffee is being dispensed very slowly and is weak or poor quality.- Incorrect use of buttons. [Use of the Tea button ]- Only use the Single or Double Espresso button when dispensing coffee.
Coffee grinds appearing the cup or mug.- Incorrect coffee capsule being used.- Ensure you are using Caffitaiy compatible capsules only. There will be a Caffitaiy System logo on the packaging.
- Not cycling water through the machine after use.- Cycle water through the machine after each use by pressing the Double Espresso button. This also assists in stopping the grinds building up and blocking the system.
Water going into the Used Capsule Drawer.- Rinse Capsule not in position when dispensing hot water, cycling/ rinsing water through the system or while Decaling.- Ensure the Rinse Capsule is in place when:
- Dispensing Hot Water
- Cycling/rinsing water through the system
- Descaling

The machine will not operate when the coffee selection buttons are pressed• The lever was not properly pulled down. Pull down the lever.
No coffee comes out• There is no water in the tank. Fill it up
•The clear hose inside the tank is not fully immersed in the water. Plunge it in.
Coffee comes out slowly, in drips• Scale has built up in the machine. De-scale the machine.
The amount of coffee dispensed is inadequate• You have pressed the wrong button (if the "strong coffee" button is pressed, the machine will only dispense 40 ml / 1.4 ounces of water). Press the right button.
•The amount of water was improperly set. Set the amount of water as described in the section "User settings according to user taste*
Coffee does not taste good• There is a used capsule in the machine. Each capsule can only be used once. Use a new one.

Froth is not creamy enough, or the froth-making process takes too long• The milk used is too hot, off, or contains an excessively high percentage of fat. Use fresh cold milk (max.3.5 % fat)
• The steam wand is dirty. Clean it.
• Scale has built up in the machine. De-scale the machine.
The machine will not dispense steam• The water tank is empty. Fill it!
• The clear hose inside the tank is not fully immersed in the water. Plunge it in.
• The macnine has not reached the required temperature. Wait till the steam button illuminates steadily
The selection buttons for caffe lungo and cream coffee are blinking• An error has occurred. Turn off the machine and then turn it on again.
